Fine quality string instrument bows are usually made of Pernambuco wood. The quality is measured by the it's grain, elasticity and flexibility.
Bow makers take many hours in shaping, molding and balancing the stick so it can help the player produce the best sound possible with the least amount of effort. What also defines a fine quality bow is that it should not feel too heavy in the players hand and is not too weak or too strong (stiff) in its flexibility

If you are renting an instrument from Day Violins you will receive a bow as part of the rental agreement. We pair our student instruments with quality bows that are durable, help them advance their studies, pull the best sound from the instrument as the student builds in playing techniques, and matches the character of the instrument and the student playing style. From beginner, intermediate or advanced students we guarantee the best bow for your student musician. Bows are covered under the Maintenance Contract available at the time of your rental contract. You cannot rent a bow without the instrument.
