There’s a powerful moment when an instrument and a budding musician come together and connect.
Some would call it magic.
Time stops for those few nanoseconds and you want to just stay in that feeling for ever.
Cute Little Pepper Ann
Not too long ago, cute little Pepper Ann came in with her mom and big sister, Jo Jo.
Jo Jo already plays the violin and needed a new size.
Pepper Ann, however, wanted to explore. She wanted to try all the instruments, including percussion and flute.
We brought out a violin and since her sister already plays, she picked it up and started playing a random tune. One instrument after another little Pepper Ann tried out that day.
Then came the cello.
She sat in the cello chair and her legs barely touched the ground. The cello, a ⅛ size, fit perfectly. She placed her fingers on the fingerboard, and grabbed the bow.
It was then the moment happened.
She played random notes.
Her eyes lit up and her countenance changed.
There was an electricity in the room that permeated into our hearts.
Mom looked at me and said, “Did you see that?” “Yes,” I said. “Not only did I see it, but I felt it too. That was powerful.”
Pepper Ann went home with that cello that day and in that moment we all felt the power of music.
